Krista leads the company’s mission to advance high‑value bioactive ingredients from domestically‑grown seaweed. With a multidisciplinary background spanning product development, marine biotechnology, law, and strategic partnership building, she brings a hands‑on, science‑driven approach to innovation. Krista is dedicated to creating sustainable, U.S.‑sourced seaweed solutions that support both human wellness and Maine’s coastal economy. Krista is also a co-founder of Maine-based Cold Current Kelp, a kelp farm and skincare company.

Scientific Advisor
Mauro Pãvao
Mauro believes that the ocean holds the key to the next generation of sustainable marine wellness. A distinguished scientist with a PhD in Biochemistry and a background in Marine Biology from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Mauro has spent over 30 years researching how marine glycans can revolutionize biotechnology. Whether he is advising international ocean-impact funds or designing pilot plants for glycan isolation, his work is defined by a commitment to "blue" resource utilization. An avid sailor and stand-up paddler, his professional drive is fueled by a personal connection to the sea.

Chief Communications Officer
Inga Potter
Inga is a marine biologist, educator, and entrepreneur focused on advancing the future of seaweed-based solutions to benefit our planet. A PhD marine biologist who began her scientific career at the University of New Hampshire studying large pelagic fish, she has spent her career studying marine life off the New England coast. She transitioned to kelp aquaculture in 2021 and brings deep, hands-on experience in the U.S. kelp industry and mission-driven blue business. Inga is passionate about translating complex science into compelling narratives for broad audiences and has shared her work through platforms including TEDx, media interviews, lectures, and outreach.

Chief Engineer
Bob Leipold
Bob is a PhD chemical engineer with a long career in the chemical industry, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical consulting. His background in process engineering, process development, biology, and economic analysis aligns closely with the needs of Atlantic BlueBio. After stepping into retirement, he was inspired by the company’s mission and chose to re-engage, bringing his experience and insight to the team.
